There are lot of softwares available on Internet for editing audio files such as audio cutting, mixing etc. In those some are free, some are trial packs and have to pay some amount back for it to renewal its license of the package. Linux are the one of the free OS and based on this there are lot of softwares are released and published those as free.

In the same way there is an application called  " Audacity " released specially for audio editing process.

Audacity is a multi tracker audio editing free software. It is available for Linux/Unix, Windows and Mac operating Systems. This is simply the best free audio editing software there is, it offers the most functions and a wide range of effects. As long as you won't be doing any advanced mixing this program is wonderful for relatively simple sound recordings and editing, it supports very many formats and exports to almost anything.

Installation : 

For Ubuntu/Debian Users =>

Step 1 : Open Termainal by Accessories -> Terminal or CTRL+ALT+T

Step 2 : Enter the below command in your terminal.

sudo apt-get install audacity

Its enought to install it. Check my screenshots below 



 For Fedora/Open SUSE users =>

Just go here to download rpm package to install it.

For Windows users =>

Just go here to download the exe package to install it.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows

Now double click to install. Its enough.


For Mac OS users => 

Just go here to download dmg package to install it.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/mac

To install the package just follow the steps.

Step 1 : Double click on .dmg file to mount it.

Step 2 : Now copy the "Audacity" folder from mounted .dmg to /Applications or some other location of your choosing point. Thats all . you are done.
