GParted Partition Editor is a free software used to edit partitions of the disk. It is the best GUI front end tool for disk partition edition. It can support nearly all types of file formats. There are many disk partition editors are available. But GParted performs well compare to all and it have multiple number of features to perform on the disk. Check the features below,

Features

  • It Performs following Actions with file systems :
      check
      set new UUID

          Step 1 : Open Terminal and enter the following command to install GParted partition Editor

          For Ubuntu/Debian users...
          sudo apt-get install gparted

          For Fedora users...
          su -c "yum install gparted"

          For OpenSUSE users...
          sudo zypper install gparted


          Step 2 : Now if you like to use all other features, just install following ad-dons.

          For Ubuntu/Debian users...

          Device-Mapper Software RAID support tool 
          sudo apt-get install dmraid

          Guess PC disk partition table, find lost partitions
          sudo apt-get install gpart

          Utilities for managing the JFS filesystem
          sudo apt-get install jfsutils

          Create device mappings for partitions
          sudo apt-get install kpartx

          Administration utilities for the Reiser4 filesystem
          sudo apt-get install reiser4progs

          User-level tools for ReiserFS filesystem
          sudo apt-get install reiserfsprogs

          Utilities for managing the XFS filesystem
          sudo apt-get install xfsprogs

          These add-ons helps to users to complete their tasks in efficient way.

          Note : Before the partitioning the disk, take backup for your safeness.
