Nowadays people like to use multiple operating system in their machine.  Most of the users are windows OS addicted and they also needed other OS's for their work or some other reasons. Probably Linux and Mac Operating Systems are widely used by people for their personal or office works. In this cases users need both operating system in their PC or Laptop. So, Today I'm gonna to say about how to install dual Operating system in your machine.

Lot of people don't know how to install dual operating system and they think whether we lost data if we are installing dual in their machine. First thing is don't get fear about it. Because it is like a normal OS installation. But in partition part chosen, there will be some more look have from you. Let see how to do this.

Let we take a two operating system. for example , i will take Windows and Ubuntu operating system.

By default Windows OS BIOS doesn't detects  the previously installed OS's in your machine. So if you are installed already some other OS's , it will not allow to use when the windows OS installation finished. But there is a way to process it, after the windows installation.

Our concept is DUAL OS installation. So, I'm gonna to install windows first and Ubuntu as next.

Let first see about windows Operating System installation.

Installation of Windows Operating System:

Step 1 : Insert your CD/DVD and boot the machine. Before booting , go to BIOS setting and set CD/DVD is the first boot option and boot the machine.

Step 2 : Now it will ask you to, whether continue to boot from CD/DVD or not. So, just press any key to start the installation.

Step 3 : When you press any key, it will consider as YES response from you and boots machine in to CD/DVD. So, now it loads all the modules and from the CD/DVD and when the modules are loaded, it will appear popup box for the windows OS installation.

It will be depend upon the bootable disk. So read the terms and conditions and start the installation. Press Next to setup.

Step 4 : Cross the basic setups by simply pressing Next button, and when you get the partition selection, just do carefully to select the partition.

Windows supports NTFS files system. So, if you are creating the disk, it will be in NTFS format.

If you are installing windows in fresh partition, follow this steps ==>

To setup partition, right click on the partition, and select create option. Now assign the disk size of the partition to create it.

In windows disk size can be represented in MB's. So , give how many MB you want to allocate the new partition. Remember, this first creation can  be consider as "Primary disk Partition" ( Local disk:C ). So, give the size atleast minimum 40 GB. Its good and the press create button to create it. See other file space will be in unused space.

So, now again follow the same procedure as Right click on the unused part and create and give the partition size to create it. This will create the partitions as secondary disk (i.e  other local disks ). It allows to create you to 'n' number of local disks. So, create how many local disk you want.

  If you are installing windows in already configured machines, follow this steps ==>

If your machine has old configuration, then just Right Click on the " C " Partition and format it. It will not affect your other Local disk Files. Those will be safe. Only the "C" partition will be formatted and install the windows in it.

If your machine has Linux machine configuration or Mac OS configuration or some other configuration, just choose the primary partition which you want to install the Windows OS, and Right click on that partition and Press delete option to delete it first. After deletion, again Right click on it and simply press create button to Create the NTFS file system.

Thats all. when you complete the partition setup,  just proceed the next steps.

Step 5 : Now proceed the further basic steps by simply pressing Next button. After the 2 more steps it will be restarted and again it will ask you to press any key to continue installation from disk. In this time, don't press any key , just left it default. It will automatically loaded with configured installation steps and ask you to setup user account details.

Provide user account details and press next to setup it.

That's all. Windows installation will be finished in few minutes and restarted when it was finished. After that you normal login with user details and start to use it.

Let see about Ubuntu Installation .....

Ubuntu Installation on Dual Boot system :

Step 1 : Remember now you are installed windows in your machine and going to install Ubuntu also in it without affecting the windows OS.

This will processed in two steps...

--> 1. Ubuntu installing with  Alongside windows
--> 2. Ubuntu installing in some other local disk partition without affecting windows

 For the first choice of Alongside windows installation, we no need to change anything on the partition.

But, If you are choosing 2nd option of installing on other local disk, you must be choose one particular before start it. So, for this backup the necessary files on that local disk and start to install in it. Because all the files will be erased on the installation process. Let we start it.

Step 2 : Insert your Ubuntu CD/DVD and boot from it. Then choose the install ubuntu option.

Step 3 : Click Next and choose your location option and click Next.

Step 4 : Select your keyboard moudule and click Next and cross the further basic steps until you get the partition selection section.

Step 5 : In partition selection section, you will get the following 5 options.

--> 1. Install Alongside windows
--> 2. Erase all and install Ubuntu
--> 3. Erase Windows and install Ubuntu
--> 4. Upgrade Ubuntu
--> 5. Others
Step 6 :

First option says, you can install ubuntu alongside of the windows OS. It means, This will ask you to allocate some amount of memory from your Windows OS installed partition.[ i.e. Local disk :(C) ]. But it will not affect windows, both will work fine, if you choose this option. There is no data loss in this method. It just separates some memory from your C drive.

Second option says, you are going to install Ubuntu by erasing all the disk space in your machine. If you chosen this option, you will lose all the data's in all disks. Choose this option, when you want to erase all the things and install fresh OS as Ubuntu. Otherwise, dont choose it.

Third option says, you are going to install Ubuntu by erasing the windows partition only. If you chose this method, it will erase Windows OS and files in C drive and will install Ubuntu in it. But it cannot affect the other disks.

Fourth option says, if you are already installed older version of Ubuntu, it will ask you to Upgrade that older version to current updated version. In this method, it just make changes in older version of Ubuntu installed partition in your machine.

Fifth option says, others. It means, you are manually going to configure disk options to install specific other local disks. Already told you in first, about choosing other local disk.

Select the particular local disk and delete it. Then it will become unused part.

Ubuntu will take memory from swap space, if the Primary memory fulfilled. So, for this you need to create swap device first. Right click on the unused part and click create option to create the partition and select file system type as swap and allocate memory as 2000 MB or 5000 MB as your wish. Normally 2000 MB is enough and then click OK to create swap space first.

After creation of swap space, again Right Click on the unused part and click create option , then select file type as EXT4 / EXT3 / EXT2 . Whatever your wish to choose. Linux machines supprots EXT file system. Better choose EXT4 for ubuntu and allocate the memory size for the partition and mark Mount  point as " \ " and Click OK to create it.

Thats all . you are done the partition selection. Click Next to continue further procedures.

Step 7 : Now enter the user details and set password and click Next to install Ubuntu in your machine. Just relax 5 minutes, Ubuntu will be installed in your machine.

When the installation finished, it will be automatically restarted and enjoy the session login with user details.

That's all. Now you successfully setup Dual OS in your machine. Enjoy!!!
